Stay With Us

Karoo Ridge Eco-Lodges

Our eco-lodges are perfect for family and friend getaways, romantic escapes, or for anyone looking for a few days of peace and tranquillity where you can choose how relaxed or active you would like your day to be.

Secluded and separate our eco-lodges are built from recycled brick and cut stone and sit in harmony in their surroundings. Each lodge has a veranda, plunge pool, boma, and braai area with a wood-burner for chillier evenings. Solar energy provides lighting and the fridge and oven run on gas. Both lodges have an open kitchen and living area and are very comfortably furnished to give a real sense of Karoo space.

The lodges are ‘wifi free’, however you are warmly invited to sit in our comfortable reception area at the main homestead to keep in touch with the outside world. Dogs are welcome but must be kept under close supervision to avoid disturbing the wildlife.

Although both lodges are fully equipped for self-catering guests we also offer full or partial catering options and usually have a selection of our meat for sale. We look forward to discussing your individual requirements with you.

River Lodge

Tucked away in a scenic valley overlooking the Groot-Brak River you will find the River Lodge. With 4-bedrooms and 3-bathrooms, it is perfect for larger families, families with small children, or groups of friends traveling together

Mountain Lodge

In the foothills of the Suurberg Mountain, the Mountain Lodge has sweeping Karoo landscapes and sky views.  With 2-ensuite-bedrooms, it is perfect for couples or small families with older children

We process our own game meat and can supply boerewors, drywors and mince, with other cuts sometimes available on request.  Guests can buy home-cooked, readily prepared meals and local lamb.  Please enquire when booking.

“Well. It’s hard to describe how amazing the whole experience was in this magical piece of pure heaven! The house is extremely well appointed given that it’s totally off the grid ( no cell phone reception, solar electricity and the most delicious water from their own spring water source!!!!!).

We were totally immersed in new sounds, smells and peace. It’s like being on your own remote island at a fraction of the cost. Deserves a few days. ( we only stayed one night ). There are 4 pretty bedrooms with 3 ensuite perfect bathrooms with showers and bathtubs. Fireplace, outdoor barbecue set up, and a breathtaking views. We will definitely return for at least 3 nights.

Pete and Helen have been very accommodating and welcoming. Highly recommended 6 STAR experience, and we are not the safari type people!”

"What an amazing find! This was the last stop on our family holiday before we headed back to Jo’burg (and then eventually London for 3 of us!), so we were looking for somewhere peaceful and wanted to feel like we were ‘in the Karoo’ – we found it!! Helen and her husband, Pete, were wonderful hosts – very friendly and welcoming, with lots of interesting stories about the area… The lodge is beautifully decorated, with amazing views, and the stars… wow!

Helen and Pete, thanks for making the last night of our family holiday so special! We so enjoyed meeting you both (and little Rachel too!). You have built such a beautiful place and we feel quite lucky to have found it… You will definitely be seeing us again!"

“We had an amazing time at Karoo Ridge Cottage. The house is so lovely with an amazing atmosphere. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom has the wauw-factor. We were with 3 couples and all had private bathrooms. We had a nice bbq with an amazing view; cows and mountains on the background. We really enjoyed our stay, and we would suggest it to everyone!”

“What a fantastic experience staying at Karoo Ridge. Helen and Pete were wonderful hosts and welcomed us with open arms. The accommodation is simply out of this world, the house sits in it own valley in splendid isolation amongst the rugged and beautiful Karoo terrain. The house and decor are tastefully appointed and fits perfectly with the surroundings.

We opted to cook all our meals on the BBQ (Braai) on the porch while looking out across the valley and enjoying the stars at night. One evening Pete very kindly drove us up to a beautiful lookout point where we enjoyed the late afternoon view across the Karoo, on our stroll back we spotted a herd of Gemsbok!

I can’t recommend Karoo Ridge more highly, it has to be on everybody’s bucket list! Next time we stay, it will be for at least a week as 2 nights were just not enough.”

"Amazing place. Karoo Ridge Lodge is for me number one in South Africa. Beautiful house and wonderful people (Helen and Peter). It was a well-spent day. I recommend this place to everyone.”
